September marks the beginning of regular guild meetings after the summer break for Nevada County Fair events. Join us in person for a peek at upcoming events, approval of the budget, the introduction of this year’s guild theme, and the selection of this year’s guild challenge. Guild member Kate Grant will share about her recent visit to Iceland. She will provide some interesting facts about the country and will describe and show examples of traditional Icelandic yarn as well as present pictures of a variety of fiber art pieces. We will have show & tell and may even have a door prize drawing!
NOTE: LATE START due to library conflict. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and we will get the party started ASAP. This is an in-person meeting only. No ZOOM option.
Bring some spooky snacks or dastardly desserts to share for a potluck. BYOB (non-alcoholic only, it’s library rules).
Fibers Costume contest: Dress up in a costume featuring something you made from yarn, or dress up as a skein of yarn! Wear anything fiber arts themed - let’s see your creativity (or maybe your skills with the mighty pun?)
Jack o’ Yarn decorating contest: Lanterns are so old fashioned; why not use yarn instead? Bring a pumpkin that you decorated with yarn or felt or other fibery goodness.
As always, guests are welcome to attend one meeting free of charge prior to joining the guild.
This is an in-person meeting only. No ZOOM option.

Join guild members in celebrating the holiday season at our annual holiday party and potluck. Meet at Sue F.'s house at 5:30 p.m. (You can find her address in the member directory.) Bring a dish to share, your favorite beverage, and your checkbook. See the many wonderful items we have in our silent auction and bid on your favorites. You can give yourself an early gift of fiber fun!
This is an in-person & Zoom meeting. Roy will be joining us via Zoom.
Roy Clemes of Clemes and Clemes will be speaking about the many uses of blending boards. A blending board is the ultimate woolen prep tool. Quickly process fleece, top, and other types of fiber into rolags that draft like butter. Wool, mohair, alpaca, cotton, feathers, dog hair, shredded silk fabric, cut yarn, odds and ends from other projects – your imagination is the only limiting factor. Learn about this handy fiber prep tool from one of its original designers!

About the speaker: Roy Clemes is half of the father-son team who own Clemes & Clemes, a fiber arts equipment manufacturer from Pinole California that specialize in drum carders, spinning wheels, and of course blending boards.
